At Stonewall, we believe philanthropy is for everyone, and we are all about making it more accessible. With over 50 unique funds calling Stonewall home, and with several giving circles and leadership development programs, there’s an entry point for almost anyone looking to build community and deepen their involvement in LGBTQ philanthropy. Check out a few of these amazing opportunities below:
Stonewall Quarter Share
Stonewall Quarter Share, or SQS, is our signature program for emerging LGBTQ and ally leaders in the New York area and beyond. The program gets its name from its unique grantmaking structure: 75% of the group’s fundraising supports our operating here at Stonewall, while the remaining 25% - or, a “quarter share” - gets pooled into a grant fund. At the end of each year, members of the group vote on a local grassroots nonprofit to receive a game-changing grant. Last year, the group awarded $40,000 - their largest grant ever - to an incredible Black trans-led organization here in NYC.
Currently boasting over 150 members, SQS hosts regular social, educational, and volunteer events throughout the year. From bar meetups and private museum tours, to fitness classes and day trips out of the city, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Learn more here!
Dad Fund
The Dad Fund at Stonewall engages gay men who are fathers in raising money for work that serves LGBTQ youth. At the heart of the Fund is a network of dads who, in addition to organizing play dates for their families, make monthly contributions of $20 or more. Dad Fund members offer us the best definition of philanthropy we know: love in action. Just as remarkable is what their connection makes possible.
Dad Fund grants are designed to support queer youth in education, housing, and social services, but since March 2020, the Fund’s existence has made it one of the critical cornerstones of Stonewall’s emergency pandemic response and played a crucial role in keeping queer youth safe over the last year. Fund Partner Program
At Stonewall, community is at the core of our identity as a foundation. Since the very beginning, partnership with donors—individuals, families, groups of friends, and even businesses—has been the cornerstone of our grantmaking. This work is brought to life in our Fund Partner Program. Housing more than 50 unique funds, from scholarships to field-of-interest funds, Stonewall is uniquely equipped to amplify your charitable giving.
