Announcing the 2022 Aritzia Scholars
This year, we partnered with fashion retailer Aritzia, a company with an innovative global platform, to launch the Aritzia Scholarship at Stonewall. In its inaugural year, the Aritzia Scholarship aims to support LGBTQ+ students in their pursuit of higher education. Specifically, these students must demonstrate a strong commitment to the fields of fashion design, retail management, mental health, or social justice advocacy. After reviewing hundreds of applications from passionate and talented students, our selection committee awarded scholarships to four amazing students:
Lucy, a rising freshman at FIT planning to study fashion business management who was a leader in her high school's GSA and plans to continue her advocacy in college
Elias, a student pursing an associate degree at Pasadena City College who plans to use his studies in engineering and psychology to make resources more accessible for homeless queer and transgender people
Alexandra, a graduate student pursuing a master's in anthropology at Georgia State University who aims to shed light on the contributions of Haitian women throughout history and the present
Tamia, a rising third year law student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas who has devoted her life to social justice and plans to continue to advocate for marginalized communities as a lawyer.
We are honored to support their studies and welcome them to the ranks of Stonewall scholars. Learn more about our scholarship programs here.
