MAIN OVERVIEW SESSIONS ADVISORS        FAQ

The 2013 cycle of Out In Front New York is currently in session and consists of four day-long seminars. The curriculum covers a variety of topics and highlights chances for dynamic lecture, dialogue, practice, and application. A diverse group of accomplished leaders and respected experts serve as speakers and workshop facilitators.

Board Service for Everyone

Through Out In Front New York, Stonewall Community Foundation seeks to make board service an accessible way for younger people to make substantial contributions to the LGBTQ community, and to equip them with confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to be successful organizational leaders. This enriching, hands-on education places particular emphasis on the roles of directors and the tradition of philanthropy that moves them.

Leadership Comprises Many Skills

Nonprofit leadership requires leaders who understand the motivations and challenges inherent in issue-based service. Likewise, it requires the same level of acumen as for-profit ventures. So, a portion of the curriculum focuses on fiscal oversight: accounting, reporting, and legal compliance.

In addition to business savvy, program participants will develop:

  • An amazing network of colleagues and mentors
  • Confidence to motivate people and inspire action
  • Competencies needed to support equity and inclusion
  • The ability to self-reflect and work successfully within groups
